Any experience with Greenwich Strategy?

Does anyone have any insight into Greenwich Strategy in Providence, RI? What is the work like for junior employees? What is compensation? What are the exit opportunities like? What's the interview process? Thanks in advance.

Never heard of them. After a couple of Google/LinkedIn searches, they're extremely small (looks like about 10 employees) with two partners who are ex-Bain and the rest mostly younger analysts and consultants. They appear to do lots of CDD for PE firms and some general strategy work. Typically these small firms have a few key accounts that they do most of their business for; PE firms are great clients because the work is typically pretty consistent. As for the other strategy work, my guess is that it's lower level than you would see at top firms so, rather than advising CEO's or even BU heads, you might be advising more Director-level clients (but who knows, that's just what I've seen in the past).

Comp is probably ok but helped by the fact that they're based in Providence instead of NYC or Boston (again, basing this off of interaction with other small firms). If you're pre-MBA, the best exit opp would probably be b-school; if you can get a rec from the head partner that would be pretty good, plus you're doing strategy work, hopefully for at least a couple of name-brand clients. What will hurt you in MBA recruiting as well as potential lateral opportunities is that the firm isn't well-known; you probably won't have headhunters beating your door down and AdComs typically like to see companies they have heard of in order to gauge their expectation for you.

Working at a small firm can have its benefits and, if you're starting your career, sometimes the extra attention you get at a small firm can be beneficial, although this can be countered by the fact that small firms lack the training that larger firms provide. I actually started my career at a consulting firm with about 50 employees so feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Wow great feedback thank you!

This is super helpful. I appreciate your time. However, I did want to quickly get your opinion that I think might be valuable to other viewers. Did you find that the intimacy of your smaller consulting firm permeated through to your relationships with clients, particularly given the rate of rehire? And could those experiences be beneficial in jumping ship to one of the aforementioned clients? Like, for example, if I had longer term career aspirations for PE/HF type work, would my hypothetical experience at Greenwich or wherever make me an attractive hire to my consistent clients, or would they rather tap into more traditional pipelines?
