BIG 4 Audit --> MBB?

How easy is it to go from Big 4 Audit (post qualifying) to MBB in London? Completing my qualification later this year and looking for something more rewarding. What level would you expect to enter at, for example I am guessing you would join as an AC at Bain

Appreciate the reply, what skills do you reckon would make an auditor more attractive to moving to MBB? Is it more soft skills like showing you have a personality etc or is there some technical skills that should be learnt before trying to make the leap?

Blue9, what's your opinion? Comment below:

Soft skills, engagement management experience and technical case skills.

You are best off lateraling to your firm's Strategy team and getting experience there. Without any relevant experience, MBB won't take you on as anything other than an analyst, and you're probably not going to be able to apply for analyst roles as they're generally for undergrad programs.

Your other bet is MBA and apply that way.

it is very hard to transition from audit to strategy but it is achievable. I did it, but I had to switch firstly from Audit-FSI, to consulting FSI focused on reg topics and then to strategy. My personal advice is that you have to do it asap / the longer you stay in audit the more difficult is to go to strat (while for CorpoFin you could take some more time for internal move). FYI my stint in audit was 1 year, honeslty the skills are completely different, even the client interactions praised by some - in audit you talk with BO, accounting teams and in SC you are in direct contact with c-suite, entrepreneurs etc. What I found most useful was the experience from the busy season to be able to work extreme hours in something I hated, and now often work the same hours for something that I enjoy! best of luck

Unsure about the responses here, I have two friends who moved to MBB from B4 in London (one from M&A and the other from audit). The M&A friend went straight in at SA consultant level i.e. one below consultant, whilst the audit person went in at associate/entry level. Your chances aren't as stacked against you as others may lead you to believe. Have a solid story, good reasons for why consulting and how your past 3 years have amplified your desire to move into strategy. It will be difficult but it is definitely doable, good luck!
