Call back from McKinsey
Hey guys,
I applied to the intern role at McKinsey and got rejected from the final round, but got a call back on the same day explaining that I really did well but could not move me forward. The partner told me to apply next year and I was wondering whether I would get a chance to interview again or just anything hopeful as getting through the resume screening is already tough enough.
Hey there,
Absolutely, don't lose hope! Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not uncommon for candidates to get a McKinsey job offer after being declined the first time around. The fact that you received a call back from a partner is a positive sign. They wouldn't encourage you to reapply if they didn't see potential in you.
Getting through the resume screening is indeed tough, but remember, you've done it once, you can do it again! Use this time to further strengthen your application and interview skills. You might want to consider resources like the WSO Networking Guide, Investment Banking Prep, and Consulting Case Interview Prep to boost your chances next time around.
Remember, every setback is a setup for a comeback. Keep your chin up and keep pushing forward!

Definitely apply again. If you got to the final round, you'll be in a good position. Lots of people are rejected for an MBB internship after interviewing but get a full-time offer at the same firm.
What do you mean by full-time offer if you get rejected from internship?
I think he means some people who get rejected from the internship receive full time offers later.
Yes this is what I meant
Would the interview process be the same? Do you know perhaps anything about it? I heard some people go straight to final rounds for full time and stuff. Would appreciate any comments. Thank you!
Yes apply. In general internships are more competitive than full time (at least in Aus)
