Company doesn't reimburse post-superday

This is a bit of an annoying situation...

I recently SDed for a boutique in NYC. During the process, I had to uber mulitple times .While they payed for hotel and flights, they booked basic fare and I had to pay out of pocket for bags.

It was a pretty poor experience overall (on me as well). I never heard back and therefore took another offer. However, I emailed them for reimbursement (after they telling me they will pay for additional costs) and they just ghosted me.

What should I do? It's a few hundred dollar combined which is not that big of a deal, but I am just a bit annoyed + its kinda fucked up.

Oh, that's a bit of a pickle, isn't it? I can understand why you're feeling frustrated. It's not just about the money, it's about the principle of the matter.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what I suggest:

  1. Follow up: Send another email to the company, politely reminding them of their commitment to reimburse you for your expenses. It's possible your previous email got lost in the shuffle.

  2. Escalate: If you don't hear back after a reasonable amount of time, consider escalating the issue. If you have a contact higher up in the company or know someone who does, reach out to them.

  3. Documentation: Make sure you have all your receipts and any written communication where they agreed to reimburse you. This will be crucial if you need to prove your case.

  4. Patience: These things can sometimes take time, so try to be patient. It's frustrating, I know, but sometimes the wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly.

Remember, you're not in the wrong for wanting to be reimbursed for expenses you were told would be covered. Stand your ground, but always remain professional. Good luck!

Basic fare + only carry-on is typical for a Superday. Its difficult to imagine why you’d need to check a bag unless theres context missing.

A few hundred dollars from "uber multiple times" and "out of pocket for bags".

  • I'm assuming the bulk of it is uber to the airport and back from the airport?
    • What uber did you request? Regular or Black?
    • Did you take any other ubers?
    • Can you post an expense list below? What is a "few hundred dollars"?
  • "I never heard back and therefore took another offer"
    • Did you perform badly during the interview? My totally speculative first impression was that they had a certain impression of you and then didn't like how the interview went, felt like they wasted all that $, and that's why they never even contacted you back.
    • Boutique in NYC - hm revenue? how large of a firm is it?
