Econ PHD to Consulting

My wife is in a top economics PHD program and has recently decided that she does not want to pursue academia. I think consulting might make sense. She is on track to graduate spring 2024. What should she be doing now to prepare for hiring? Links to other threads appreciated too.

Thanks!

Hey there,

I did just that, so here are some links that will prove useful if she wants to get into it now:

Next, I'd recommend she familiarises herself with what the prep looks like for consulting, I have some posts I made that can be helpful (and others have also posted extremely helpful info throughout the forum):

Also always happy to chat if she'd like. There aren't many PhDs at MBB, and it's a very different type of career, so if she has questions she can ask them. I'd recommend she asks them herself rather than through you though, as it would be easier. Also, usually best to find the info yourself.

EDIT: Completely forgot, but she should also check when recruitment events take place at her uni. If she's at a top Econ programme, odds are there is on-campus events from MBBs. Always good to go there and chat to people face to face.
