I've worked in Investment Consulting for 3 years and progressing well but am considering a change. I'm looking at Ernst and Young and their Government Infrastructure Advisory roles.
From the blurb "The EY Lead Advisory practice focuses on providing sector focused corporate finance advice across a range of transactional activity including infrastructure projects, M&A, debt advisory, finance raising and commercial advisory."
Does anyone know what day to day work would be like in this sort of roll? Presumably it trains you to become a "jack of all trades" but master of none?
The role would be relatively junior so would expect there to be a large amount of modelling, but also a lot of outsourcing work to other teams within EY (corporate finance etc)? They ask for someone with a quant degree/background.
Is anyone able to shed any more light on day to day work in a role like this?
What are the future career prospects from such a role? I would like to combine my investment experience with the infrastructure/deal experience and potentially work at an Infrastructure investment fund, or a a Private Equity firm. Is this likely to be achievable?

Bump. I'm interested in this as well. I've been working in infrastructure design for the past 7 years and attending regional target mba. The big 4 (i think mainly ey) have been hiring a few students for infra advisory. Just curious what the group does.
I've asked similar questions before, but I think infra is a small group so there isn't much info out there. I've seen the same group, along with Deloitte and KPMG, looking for infra analysts in the city I'm in too.
I'm not certain, but I would imagine this would be a gov consulting role where you will prob be doing due diligence, transaction advisory (dealing with lenders/developers... again I'm only assuming because the gov cannot execute these functions as well as the private sector), and modeling.... These groups are pretty small typically, so your boss is probably very experienced and would prob have you doing modeling, and other analyst stuff. The asset class is growing, especially in the Americas, so I'm not surprised to see more job postings about this stuff.
These assumptions come from speaking to recruiters for these groups/people in these groups/just researching.... I'm very interested in the space too. What city are you in? Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss more.
