FAANG project management internship → MBB full-time

Would a summer internship in project management with Amazon position me well for full-time MBB recruiting? Would I be more competitive if I instead did a T2 consulting internship (assuming I am unsuccessful in landing an MBB internship this year).

Ditto. Will add that firms often seek “safe bets” so having prior consulting experience gives some insurance that a candidate knows what they’re getting into.

On the flip side, Amazon should get you through the resume screen and it might be a good opportunity to try out PM if you aren’t 100% sold on consulting or think PM could be a potential exit down the road.

Quick clarification on rhetoric since it's confusing -- lots of acronyms at tech companies have PM

Product Manager: This is usually the most desirable and the one people most commonly reference when they say PM. I don't think a lot of project managers exit to product. Usually product managers are (a) former software engineers of the company, (b) business school hires, (c) ex-consultants who were previously in a different intermediary role at the FAANG (not very many consultants are directly hired into PM roles these days)

Project Manager: Consultants would call this type of work PMO, this role isn't usually called a PM. Basically you're helping to connect people and facilitate progress and meetings like a consultant does, but you're not doing as much analysis and recommendation. Some consultants exit to these roles, but not usually MBB/T2

Product Marketing Manager: This is marketing -- very different
