Help with the tough decision?

I have offers from both Ernst & Young's Business Advisory Practice (Financial Services Office) and Accenture's Management Consulting Development Program. My degree is in finance but I fit better into the consulting world and management consulting would be a great place to be.

Any thoughts on what might be the best place to start right out of school?

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son.

Accenture. Accounting firms are brutal; you will be underpaid and overworked. Plus, being among a room full of accountants that think they can do anything will break your spirits after awhile. I say this from experience haha

good luck!

Lol, could you elaborate on that?

RagnarDanneskjold The only Big 4 consulting gig you should consider is Deloitte.

Agreed, post-SOX Big 4 firms can no longer consult for the firms they do audit work for (a simplification of sorts, but true). E&Y is one of the best at audit work--thus their advisory practice isn't the best. Likewise how Deloitte S&O is great, their accounting side might not be as strong.

Accenture is more "real" consulting (although still not in the realm of pure strategy).
