Update:
Did the Bain ADvantage program last week and received a full time offer. The program was absolutely amazing! Happy to talk to anyone who is doing it in Chicago or Atlanta this summer, because it was definitely hard to know what to expect. It was very informative about what being a consultant would really look like and we all worked on real case teams and got to make valuable contributions. I was pretty skeptical before I did it about what value we could provide in such a short time, but they were thoughtful about the work they gave us. I was incredibly impressed with both Bain and my experience!
All 6 of us were invited to do our final round interview at the end of the "internship" (Friday) so it was a seriously jam-packed week, but it was also awesome to interview there while working there because I felt very at home at the office.
The written case interview was the biggest surprise, because I had not fully prepared myself for how hard it would be. Happy to answer any Q's that people have about it. Online I often read that there isn't anything you can do besides regular case prep to prepare, and I don't think that's true at all. It's a fairly different set of skills than cases. Luckily I still got an offer, but I would have felt more confident if I had worked on written cases more.
I didn't comment much on the site, but I read a lot. I'm very grateful to everyone who shared their experiences (and the former years of PhD hires too) because it gave me a great foundation. Happy to pay it forward in any way I can!
