Newbie from life sciences (chemist) transitioning over to Big 4 Deloitte in Governance, regulatory, & risk strategies

newbie here!

Hello everyone, I love reading WSO, a lot of helpful postings on big 4 consulting; but, I wasn't able to find topics on life sciences/healthcare for someone w/ a science degree coming from the industry.

I am a chemist w/ 4.5 yrs of clinical experience (worked at a CRO, clinical research firm for 3 yrs and 1.5 at a Medical Academia Center) and hold an BS & MS in Drug Regulations (pharmacy/science school, aka none target).

I recently accepted an offer w/ D in the business risk, GRRS practice (i realize is not S&O) at 72K + 5K bonus. The original offer was at 70K, I asked for 79K, they came back on a final offer at 72K.

My questions are:

  • again, I know I am not in S&O at big D, but is 72K a fair base for an "experience" hire? Given, I have worked with big pharma clients (such as Eli Lilly, Pfizer, TEVA, Eisai, ect) and on international projects (EU, Asia-Pacific, S. America). Although, my title was not that faltering, my title was an assistant (entry-level, right out of college). To be honest, I can get a job within Pharma at least at the 70K range and with min. travels. But I am very intrigued to explore the consulting world.

  • What are my growth opportunities within D in the ERS arm?

-Anyone else in this group with similar background can share some insight on the workload and client exposure?

  • Is it possible to make a jump from ERS to S&O given my technical background?I plan to purse an MBA down the road...

  • And what are my exit options?

Thanks in advance for the help.
