Please help me decide between 3 offers

Hi,

Currently deciding between 3 full time offers post grad and would love to hear some advice on which is the best opportunity in terms of exit opps / career progression / b school placement. Also deadline is in 36 hours so stakes are up.

Offer 1: Economic consulting firm (Think Brattle/BRG/Ankura)

T2 city, I've heard great things about the company and I've liked everyone I've met so far, it seems like a really smart group of people. I'd be coming in generalist for the consulting team and likely doing a lot of research and data analytics to start. This type of work seems super interesting but I know this industry doesn't have the widest applicable skillset. Have heard that MBA placement is really good coming out of firm.

Offer 2: Mid size Management Consulting Firm (Think Slalom/Claro Group)

T1 city, smaller name but great culture, work life balance, but pay is a bit less than econ consulting firm. It seems like most people exiting move on to other consulting firms or corporate strategy positions, and the skills I would learn would translate really well to those.

Offer 3: FLDP at Fortune 50 media company (currently intern here)

Rotations would be different operational finance, FP&A, strategy type roles. Would have me move around a lot which is exciting but in the long term I'm having a hard time figuring out if staying within the company or leaving would be better for career development. Typically hired out of the program back at the company at a post IB/MBB analyst level.

I don't think there's any wrong answers here, but curious to hear other perspectives on what would be the best move.

Thanks

I like the FDLP option. You already intern there and they like you. You get to rotate around and get a taste of different groups. And you know the work life balance is awesome at these big firms. The pay probably sucks compared to banking, but I’m sure the benefits are awesome.

I sometimes dream of what my life would have been if I had just got a job at the treasury team / Corp fin team / Corp dev team at a Fortune 500 company. Yea, my bank account wouldn’t be so fat, but I wasted a lot of money when I was younger, and you just cannot beat corporate work life balance.

I just went into banking because at my school it was where all the “smart” kids went and now I feel trapped. I think consulting life is very similar to banking life with much less pay at the junior level, so that’s why my lean is to your third option.

What do you want to do?

My first instinct is that #2 is not competitive with the other two options. If you really want to do strategy work, then this could be viable but even then, the FLDP might provide a better corporate finance toolkit and set you up better for business school.

#1 and #3 can both set you up well for business school, which is a good reset for you to go in any direction. #1 will give you a deeper analytics experience, whereas #3 is better for finance and for learning to navigate corporate environments. #1 will require graduate education for continued career progression, whereas #3 may give you some optionality (you may not need an MBA if you like the work and are progressing well or can lateral directly into your target role).

What do you want to do?

This is key.  What do you actually like doing, or think you'll like doing? These three roles are so different.  Think about what you'll be doing every day, and if you'll like the work. So many people are worried about 'prestige' and year I get that it's nice to have a name brand on your resume, you should focus on what you can see yourself doing for 40/50/60 hours per week.  All 3 options here are good (though I do agree with above that #1 and #3 are stronger), so choose what you like.  Personally I'd go with the F500 unless you have a keen interest in Econ grad school, law school, or data science.

Yep, after reading through your 3 offers. I believe offers #1 and #3 are better fits for your future needs, especially if you're looking for B school placement.
