Should I recruit for IB or MC ? Help!

Hi, I'm a junior at a Canadian University. I have done internships in asset management at a big bank and investment banking at a Toronto boutique. and I'm actually doing a year long corporate strategy internship at pretty good publicly traded tech company in Canada from this summer(2018) to the end of next summer(2019). I have a good GPA(3.8+) and leadership experience plus other ECs on campus. My question is that I have always been focused on finance (i.e IB) for the past two years, but after working at the boutique, I realized finance isn't really for me. However, I've never been to a consulting case competition, event or networking sessions. Do you guys think I have enough time to prepare ? I will probably recruit next September since I'm doing a year long internship. I also don't have any industry contacts either. My concern is that I know guys who's been preparing for MC since first year but still don't get MBB or tier 2 offers after they graduate lol. I'm just not sure if I have enough time and I feel like I'm behind the consultant kids in terms of preparation. Further, people told me it's also hard to recruit for both IB and MC at the same time. Thanks.

~6 months is plenty of time to prep, esp. from undergrad. I have no idea what the people who have been preparing for years have been doing, honestly- that sounds like a great way to get burned out/ churn out cases like a robot (maybe why they didn't get offers honestly). The big thing you should focus on that your friends may have a leg up on is networking, and if you go to a target your stats seem decent enough to get you through the resume screen.

Hi, when do you think I should start networking assuming that I plan to recruit next September(2019). My plan is to learn as much as about the industry through online resources before reaching to professionals haha. Do you think starting this september (2018) is good enough ? I will probably target tier 1 and tier 2 firms. Thanks.
