Victor Cheng's Ultimate Consulting Kit
Hey Monkeys,
Has anyone tried or know anyone who has used VC's Ultimate Consulting Kit? Just wondering if it's worth it.
Cheers

There's a 30-day money-back guarantee. So you can get it and if you don't think it's up to expectations, you can get a refund.
Is this different from the Look Over My Shoulder program he was selling earlier? I believe that one was $300.
If you're trying to prepare for case interviews, I would recommend starting with a book, either Victor Cheng's book (at one time it was free on Amazon) or the Case In Point book. Either one is decent at introducing you to the preparation process -- although I think Victor Cheng has a much simpler approach that lets you dive right in....the case in point guy has like a million frameworks.
Anyway, after you read most of a book, start live practice with serious study partners. This is by far the important part. I had access to the LOMS, and I felt it was good only when you don't have any study partners...otherwise it's kind of a waste (because it isn't cheap). So in summary, if the "toolkit" is anything like the LOMS, and as expensive as the LOMS, then you probably shouldn't buy it.
I think the reason that the OP is enquiring about the ultimate consulting kit is that he/she is already working in a consulting firm....at least that's what I hope is the case! The kit is practically useless for aspiring applicants- only purchase it after you've signed the contract and received your golden handshake. On a gradient scale of usefulness, it's least useful to undergraduate interns, more useful to MBA interns and most useful to full-time consultants (particularly, analyst-level). The cost is well-justified if you want the extra edge and shine amidst equally-hardworking and intelligent colleagues. In some sense, it's only a dent in your sign-on bonus and has a huge potential upside for your professional (and perhaps even personal) development. And no, the toolkit is nothing like the LOMS programme/package.
Oh. Ignore my previous comment then; I thought it was some sort of enhancement to the LOMS.
I'm interested in the program because I joined a private company's corporate strategy team right out of b-school instead of going to a strategy consulting firm. I did this because I am in my mid-30's and have 1 small child with another on the way. Traveling 80%+ just was not going to be good for anyone in my family. So, I'm looking at this program as a way to build a foundation of the skills one would at a firm and then further develop my strategy skills through projects at my company.
I am in a similar situation. Curious to hear if anyone has any thoughts on the program.
Our Consulting Case interview guide written by a Mckinsey Wharton Grad post-MBA associate, is really getting better and better each year and is much less $: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/guide/consulting-case-interviews
It now also includes actual cases given at the top consulting firms based on our research through the WSO Company Database.
I haven't tried the Ultimate kit, because it's way above my pay grade and also because I'm still an undergraduate. But from what I've read about it, my opinion is that the stuff in the kit is like a crash course to accumulate knowledge and tips of what you'd eventually gain after working for 1-2 years in consulting/corporate finance etc (any role that involves serious facetime with the higher-ups). So think of it like a package that has the insights and learning points from someone who's experienced it all, and knows what's important. In some sense, it draws your attention towards what you ought to be thinking about. If I just came out of b-school and have a job, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase the programme. And yes the WSO consulting guide is awesome for aspiring applicants (but you guys already have a job so no point).
