What should I do? IB vs CO

Hey,

I am currently a business student and on the hunt for a inernship, my passion are ofc the financial markets and the financial sectors but I already got a few rejections from BB (non target europe, good grades though).

I already expected that as it´s the first time I applied to them. On the other hand I applied to a few consulting firms and now it get´s interesting:

Before I started Uni I worked in a logistic / supply chain management firm as an agent and also did a lot of key account management. Banks didn´t give a f* about that on my CV but consulting agencies seem to like it as they have own logistic departments.

I switched from the logistic field and began to study something business related because of my interest in the financial sector, therefore I am now "between the chairs".

Would you advise me to tell the consulting agencies / write in my cover letter and CV, that my main interest would be in there corporate finance division and finance consulting or should I play my "USP"-card and push my past career (which was around 4 years) in the CVs and interviews?

Chances should be higher to intern if I go for the logistic way, although I like finance more. I still think I could like it though and a big consulting name could polish up my CV for any future applications to the IB sector again, don´t you think?

(note: I don´t solely use/would do consulting to get into IB, I just say I would prefer IB but I don´t even know it yet as I never worked there. same with consulting, if I would like the internship and the work I would try to get my feet in their ofc).

Chris
