GE Capital Exit Ops
Hey Guys,
I was wondering what exit ops there would be after a Risk Management or Financial Management program at GE Captial. There are a few threads on WSO that mention jumping to B-school - but does anyone have an idea of lateral opportunities?
I was also wondering if anyone had an idea of what the signing bonus/base salary/year-end bonus would look like for an RMP/FMP-ER at GE. How does it compare to a corporate banker's salary or entry level corporate finance salary?

Not in-industry, based on interviews/research.
For salary, I believe FMP pays in the 50-60k for a first year. This is old info though, it could have moved up and it will depend on the location. I doubt bonus will be more than 5%, maybe up to 7%. Not sure about signing bonus, I think they give one and/or a relocation package. Really not sure though. So, they pay pretty well for entry-level CF (not the top, but close, probably top 10-20% of F500 companies). It pays less than corp banking, but you'll probably be saving more than someone doing CB in NYC.
Not sure about the RMP, but I bet it's pretty similar.
For lateral moves after 2 years as a top performer in either RMP/FMP, you'll have strong options. I'm not sure so much about risk laterals, but I have little doubt you'll have trouble lateraling to another company while staying in risk. For corpfin, you'd be considered valuable by a lot of companies. The FMP program is very well known (80+ year track record) and respected.

also remember if you do well in GE Capital there is a lot of opporunity with GE itself. GE AM, GE Ventures, GE Antares, GE Equity, etc.
I have friends who completed the program, and are now working in GE Asset Management or Leveraged Finance.
RMP 2014 salary is 60k, 5k first year signing bonus. When transitioning to the second year, top rating raise is $4400. High-Cost areas (Connecticut, NYC, etc) get a $1200/qtr cost of living cash payment.

FMP is 60k with a 3k signing bonus. Relo is a lump sum payment of 1k with things like lease cancellation (up to two months) and mover fees also covered.
I looked specifically at RMP and it seems to be a good training ground for credit. A solid amount of RMPers go to GE Antares which I believe is their LevFin group where they give loans to fund MM PE acquisitions. Some of the rotations inside RMP also include Antares too.
From what I can tell, it seems that some of the GE position names don't reflect what most other positions with the name would entail. E.g. an Investment Analyst we would think would be a securities analyst, but at GE Capital, the Investment Analyst Program actually is an auditing group. While for credit, risk management plays a big role, it may also not be aptly named.

can anyone share some thoughts - i'm joining GE CAPITAL RMP Analyst this summer for 2 year rotational. what do people think on moving to I-Banking after or thoughts on any other exit strategies.

Best (easiest) path might be to go to a M7 MBA program, and then recruit for associate positions.
You could potentially make the jump if you get out of the RMP side and move into origination first.
