Corporate Banking Associate and Up Bonuses - 2022

Hey guys, figured we could use a thread on this of our own.

Please share Base + Bonus (% Deferred);  and Role/Level/Bank/City if you’re comfortable doing so.

Numbers I have heard in Canada:

BMO: A1: 115 + 40

RBC: A1: 125 + 20

Citi: A1: US$125 + US$60 (they also do HY/IG on top of Corp Banking though).

$150k Base / $75k Bonus

they pay so much better in the US eh

all NY job salaries are posted publicly, for example RBC CB Associate ranges from 155 to 195k, i assume the latter is for aso3. and a VP in CB is 210 - 250k USD.

Associate base in CB is same as IB at a BB? AS2 is $200k base on both platforms it seems, that’s great

There’s a blurred line between Commercial Banking and Corporate Banking at my bank (not a BB). I’m at $190K base and $150K bonus at VP level. 7 YOE. I work about 40 hrs a week, or closer to 50 with travel time factored in.

Atlanta/Charlotte/Dallas/Houston.

nice pretty good, especially bonus - guessing this is coverage on companies with $100mm - $1bn revenue as a mid-level relationship manager?

That Canadian bank oligarchy really screwing you guys on pay. Why even work for a bank.... I'd pivot my ass over to tech in a hot minute if it's a better paying sector.
To put it in perspective, based on OP's post and once converting to USD Canadian Aso1 would be about $25-35k USD below street. Aso1's in the US are ~$125k +/- $10k base in CB. Bonus can be pretty variable... somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-70% not unexpected in normal years depending on performance.

It's typically a bit more chill of a job in Canada despite being grouped within "C&IB" whereas in the U.S. I feel like it's referred to more as IB-lite due to longer hours/NY culture. Tech isn't that great paying in Canada either - similar discount to US peers and comp is really driven by equity performance for the most part, which doesn't always go up as was made clear in the current financial market state.
