Credit Research Analyst in asset management trying to lateral to Banks
I’m trying to figure out career progression and next steps. I work as an investment analyst at a sizeable company on their structured products portfolio (CMBS/CLOs/etc). I like the products I work with, find them super interesting but don’t know if I want to be investing in the A piece tranches of these products as a long term career option. I’m wondering whether it’s possible to translate my skills to the sell-side, whether it’s S&T (structuring?), research or even some kind of lending function at a bank.
The way I see it, banks offer faster growth in terms of career prospects, I’m not sure if that’s poor judgement on my part. But I feel like IG investments would really stagnate my career growth prospects. Thoughts on how I can think about my career moving forward?
