Don’t want to do ABL (Asset Based Lending) anymore. Exit opps?
Been in ABL for 5+ years now at a couple of different banks (the usual players you’d expect like JPM/Wells/BofA/PNC/Citi). Started on the credit/PM side and then worked in different Originations and Capital Markets/Loan Syndications roles specifically in ABL. The WLB and pay is fine, but I’m not learning anymore. Over the years I’ve realized that I like capital markets/syndications more, but I hate the schmoozing and salesy aspect of the Sales/Origination side of the business. I’ve excelled at it but can’t see myself doing it forever. I’m honestly not sure what my exits are.
Feels like I’m pidgeonholed in ABL since it’s all I’ve done.
Can go to a shop that does cash flow and ABL, and then tranfer to ABL. There are differences so not sure how easily you can go directly to a credit fund. Can you move to cash flow lending at a bank? Another route is do an MBA, then sell-side levfin to a credit fund. How old are you?
What did you end up doing?
