JPM Syndicated Finance Group (SFG)

Does anyone have any experience with the JPM SFG team. I know they work with a lot of middle market companies and are consistently the top player in the mm syndicated space. What is comp/wlb/ exits looking like? I assume private credit/ direct lending would be a natural exit.

Marketing group and doing pricing on syndicated deals. Not that technical but exits seem okay for the hours and Pay.

Starting AN1 comp is 100k base + 40% bonus, working hours similar to IB DCM team. Culture is very good. Strong exits to PC/DL shops such as HPS/Golub

If you look on LinkedIn it’s possible if you’re looking for a “return internship” but making the jump from core SA to SFG FT is super unlikely

Honestly probably one of the best groups for pro-rata deal flow. As a summer analyst I executed so many deals which ranged from initial syndication to follow-up financings.

Plus it was either us or Bofa that were lead arrangers.

But in a group like this the stress is high. We had red all over the board for people's workloads

And to your point about technical yes it does get technical but its the credit analysis models and debt capacity models that JPM does. It's not M&A or other things.

Great for anything credit-related and you're pretty much the biggest competition to direct lenders. You're the number 1 of corporate lending basically. Anything else is just bonds (ig or levfin).

Something long-term career wise though is do you want to always be executing cause that's what this group is

It's very hard to originate when you have the coverage bankers looping you in 24/7
