Potential Career Path into Direct Lending / Private Credit?
Background: I'm currently rotating through a post-MBA FLDP (F500). I've done rotations through Corp Dev, FP&A, and Project Management (managing the expenses on a long-term cost-savings project). I could potentially pursue a role with the Treasury team in a full-time capacity after completing my last rotation. Thinking ahead, I was wondering if it would be possible to go from Treasury in a F500 working in capital markets to a Direct Lending / Private Credit investing role. Thinking the path would look something like this:
F500 Treasury --> Corporate Banking --> Direct Lending / Private Credit
Thoughts?
I'm sure its possible but probably easier to make the shift as soon as possible out of bschool. Not sure the path you outlined makes sense as you'd be coming in more senior without the experience. Best bet is to get in as an associate/sr associate. Wouldn't say the pivot is a slam dunk...but not a stretch either.
can definitely go from BB corp banking to direct lending but the challenge will be getting the CB gig given most groups are overstaffed in the current market. you'd have an easier time going from treasury to corp banking sales since the sales guys in CB mostly interface with treasurers.
Bumping since I would be interested in pursuing a career path in the future.
