Python vs Tableau

Made it to the final round for a Commercial and Industrial credit portfolio manager role at a FinTech but was rejected as the company was looking for someone a little more senior.

When I followed up with the hiring manager, I was told if I wanted to be a stand out candidate in the future I should look into learning tableau or python. The hiring manager didn’t really have knowledge of either, but believed that “data is the future” and it would be a great way to stand out as a future applicant.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with either and could recommend which would be worth learning. I have pretty limited Comp Sci knowledge and mostly just use excel (modeling, financial analysis, etc).

Appreciate any info and Happy Holidays!
