Advice

I somehow landed an ER internship with a global bank starting in a few months. How does one best prepare for this? Would something like BIWS or WSP be a good option? I study Economics and have an okay level of understanding when it comes to corporate finance concepts, but have little experience modelling or doing ER reports (I really clutched the application process for this role).

BIWS is more comprehensive, I think WSP prob good enough for ER purpose, but doesn't hurt to overprepare, just do the basic course is fine, no need to do those big M&A / LBO module.

Do you know what sector you will cover? If so, read sell-side reports on that sector to know what key metrics the analysts write about. Feel free to PM me if you have specific Qs.

Ask the analyst you’ll be working for for some of their thematic pieces / initiations / primers when you’re about 3 months out. Depending on your coverage, BIWS may just not be that relevant (thinking for FIG, REIT, biotech, maybe O&G). Whatever your analyst has on the shelf should be solid for your to use to get a background on what you’ll be working on. From there, do your own due diligence trying to google your questions and go down the rabbit holes to learn your space.
