Barclays Equity Research

Just wondering what people know about Barclays Equity Research - did most of the Lehman team transfer over, is it still one of the top teams, is it a potential area of cost-cutting for Barcap management, are they still looking for full-time analysts out of undergrad, etc?

Thanks in advance.

Barclays had no equity research until the Lehman purchase. Everyone in the US in ER will be ex-Lehman or hired since the integration. In Europe they have hired a lot of ex-Lehman and people from other banks as well. I would imagine that it is not a growth area in terms of headcount in the US because they took in entire teams from analyst to MD.

they basically took the lehman research reports and pasted over the lehman logo with a barcap eagle.

and they changed it from green to blue.

for awhile the research analysts still had lehman email addresses.

The world has changed. And we must change with it.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.

research is always facing the cost cutting axe, but barclays seems to be doing relatively well amid this crisis so it might be a good place to end up. in this economy, however, you never know.

i know a few ex lehman at barcap who are happy, and one ib at barcap (ex lehman) who got the axe. i dont know squat about lehman research so take it with a grain of sand
