I worked at Leerink, base was 95k and my bonus was 50k my first year. Not sure was the base is nowadays, but that bonus is on the higher end for sure.
Good to know ty. How long ago was this? Also bonus is on the higher end for Junior guys now or later in the career?
post covid. That 50k is higher end for 1st year without a MD/PhD.
Gotcha. Also was curious how long you worked in the industry prior to making the move to IB? Also is it biotech IB that you’re in?
They typically get paid more because they hire people with industry expertise and advanced degrees, when I left the sell-side two years ago my firm was paying $125k-$150 base for associate analysts in the sector. It's not uncommon for them to hire people with PhDs from Ivies or similarly strong Masters with research experience. Go on LinkedIn and look at the analysts in the sector from Cowen, Jefferies, Cantor, Evercore, and Guggenheim.
