Can I interview with and then work for a covered company?

While I don’t know the specific regulations around this, I’d just point to Holden Lewis, current CFO of Fastenal, used to be a senior analyst and cover the name publicly. So I feel like this is OK.
I did it. at my bank we were supposed to tell compliance if we were starting to interview at a covered company. i didn't and it was no big deal in the end.
I know multiple people that switched to a company they directly covered. No big deal.
