Defense ER in Europe

Starting a new job in ER on Monday in renewables but thinking a little ahead as well and so I was wondering how defense ER coverage works in Europe. Is it typically lumped in with other sectors like aerospace or industrials or do some places also have “pure” defense analysts? And which firms are most prominent, whether sell-side or buy-side? What about location - the typical suspects for finance in general (London, Frankfurt, Paris, …) or…?

Thanks.

In my bank and most others, its almost always in a aerospace and defence (A&D) group, havent seen any bank split this out although within the group you might have one senior analyst focussed on A and the other on D. Although given the synergies from covering both, I think most analysts will be involved (how can you cover Boeing/Airbus without considering defence?)

Location is just where firms ER is located, most are London, some boutiques (Kepler, etc) will be on the continent.

No idea of rankings sorry, im in a completely different sector.

Would also say while defence is doing well recently from an er perspective, i would rather be in renewables longer term...

Thanks for your answer, appreciate it. I agree that renewables is probably wiser career-wise and I do like energy in general a lot. Defense is just something that I’d be interested in exploring at some point since my educational background is security / defense-related.
