Equity Research as an internship
Hi! I’m starting an internship at a large-ish regional bank (in APAC) as a sell side equity research summer analyst in 2 weeks. I’m in my first year as an undergraduate student (studying in the UK), and I was wondering if sell side ER is a good launching pad in my first year to then land a summer in my second year in IB/AM/PE? I understand that moving from sell side ER to IB/PE might not be that common in terms of someone in a full time job, but as someone looking for internships does it give me a good shot? My understanding is that during the internship I’ll be asked to write full ER reports on recent IPOs (as part of the structured internship program) as well as help out in the actual day to day work. Thanks!
Yes that's a great internship to have on your resume heading into SA IBD recruiting.
Hey, was wondering how you got a SS ER internship as a first year? (would be looking to do the same next summer - for London though). Thanks
