Equity Research FT Recruiting
Not sure if anyone had insight on this, but what is research FT recruiting like? As in roles for right out of college, do any banks have specific programs for this? I remember seeing people saying a few did, but never saw proof or confirmation of it. I’m a current junior, after this summer I’ll have 4 internships, 2 in corporate finance, 1 in buy side (HF), 1 at an MM in sell side research this summer (however sort of an informal program, so don’t think it directly converts to FT like that). Just a little worried on how I’ll be able to get in full time or if for that matter. Any advice would be appreciated.
Dodge & Cox buy-side - have an incredible pitch for them that you can start refining now.
Idk what you mean by "specific program". Any specific program would be just joining the converted summer analysts in their program (which is the FT program).
From what I've seen joining research FT directly is rare but definitely happens. Definitely sounds like you have the experience for it too, it's just a matter of if there's seats.
By specific program I guess I just meant like a 2026 equity research associate application. I remember seeing RBC post one but I’m not sure if it was for 2026 grads or just 2026 in general. But I guess you are right, mostly a pull system rather than a push
Yeah sometimes they come up, sometimes they don't. I once applied to one and got told by HR to apply for an internship instead (I was eligible and qualified for FT). You just have to look at the normal players, not too hard, there aren't really that many.
Ofc Depends on space - most teams, to be frank, don't want a grad vs like someone with 1-2YOE so demand is always limited.
You can bridge this gap sometimes by networking.
Got it, thank you
