Equity Sales - Exits?
Currently a junior in Equity Sales, not really finding the role fulfilling and don’t see it as a viable long term career for me. I’m interested in the equity market, but do not enjoy the day to day of the role.
Wondering what kind of career switches people have seen from Equity Sales?
if you want the real answer, i have never seen anyone exiting from equity sales. like it is sales and then out of the industry.
Appreciate the honesty. When you say “out of the industry”, what kind of roles are you talking?
some went to startup and consulting. or stay long enough to become head of sales
btw which country are you from? things might vary by region.
I have seen internal transfers from equity sales to ECM syndicate (at all levels) and to ECM Origination (taking a hit to seniority i.e. associate back to analyst)
Have seen equity sales going to hedge fund IR or BD. And as others have said, also other random roles.
