ER besides NY?

Could anyone tell me if there are ER opportunities outside of NY, particularly Atlanta/Southeast? Doesn't have to be BB, but come to think of it, do any boutiques really provide such a service? Also, I'm guessing Wachovia and Suntrust will come up, so if anyone can comment on "prestige" of research at these firms, it would be appreciated.

I know San Francisco has a ton of research shops. Chicago has a few, and Piper is out of Minneapolis as someone else said.

Boston also has quite a few research shops, especially to house biotech analysts.

I don't know much about the South East. I'd guess that most energy analysts are based out of Houston?

you mean research dept of bb or independent shops?

I am not sure if you would consider Houston, but many BBs and smaller shops have research staff there that cover E&P (oil/gas Exploration & Production), oilfield services, pipelines and utilities. Most opportunities I have seen want someone with industry or IB exp. though.
