Excel Preparation - Recommendations??

Hey guys,

What books/training packages would you recommend for learning how to use Excel in a more professional manner as would be required for an Equity Research Analyst?

Also, is EViews widely used in ER at a professional level? I know that it is required for us as students to do our projects, but is there any other better substitute for this software which is preferred by ER-analysts? Should I also consider specializing in this software?

thanks

I've never heard of that software package

Stuff like training the street is helpful, but it won't take you all the way home

At least when I took it, tts dealt with annuals only and modeled revenue top down- research is about quarterly earnings and people like to model revenue bottom up

Get your head around non gaap adjustments (and think critically about what management is trying to have you ignore)

In terms of excel skills: I make extensive use of things like dynamic named ranges and VBA However, that isn't totally universal - some people build models that would have worked in excel 95 or whatever
