Final round interview with panel + Head of Research

Hey guys, I'm into the final rounds of a SS ER position. Can you tell me what to expect? One round is with a panel of associates and final round with Director of Research. Any insight would be great.

Thank you!

The directors are like the overseers of research, not quite C-suite but very senior. Think of the lead analyst as the QB and the directors as coaches. I met two directors in final round interviews. One was a mix of technicals, stock pitches, tell me about yourself type questions. The other was more along the lines of, why should we hire you? why research? why X sector?

You really have to be prepared for anything but if you've made it to that stage it means youve impressed people which is good

Thanks for the insight Deter6895, really helps. Also, is that the same as meeting with the Head of Research? Just learned it’s not the Director, it’s the Head. (Will update my post right now as well). I’m expecting it to be similar to the first round where it’s all about assessing fit and really drilling into why I want to do this. Am I rght?

Thanks again!!

Director is likely the same as head. I met with both the head of junior research talent and the head of research. The way you prepare shouldn’t be really be affected honestly.

The first time I was thinking they wouldn’t really have such a senior person waste their time grilling an entry level analyst on technicals right? Wrong. The head of research asked me to run through my stock pitch and asked me a few totally random technical/market questions. Didn’t end up getting that one (not because I flubbed them, I got asked a few specific industry questions I wasn’t ready for)

Second time he didn’t ask any technicals really, much more fit and ended up getting that one. Really it’s a crap shoot and depends on the persons style
