How to "Exaggerate" ER internship?
Hi!
I'm a freshman and for the past couple months I've been interning at an ER firm. I did learn a lot about how valuation is approached and how companies are analyzed, but I also did a good amount of 'stupid' work - looking up contacts, making spreadsheets of basic information or financial data.
How can I spin that for my resume/interviews from now on?
Thanks!
Making spreadsheets of basic information is a huge part of the job at any level, even if its going through years of Ks and Qs and tracking Bps breakouts in MD&As, stuff is very valuable.
Talk about how your information agregation helped the final product.
do not overly exaggerate things. no one is going to expect you to do anything spectacular for a freshman internship and ER anything looks better on your resume than any sort of PWM garbage.
Little the amount of exaggeration, ER internship already looks good as a freshman. Just word it as "Completed xyz task in order to increase efficiency for Portfolio Manager/Clients."
Somebody has to do that stuff. It's a big part of the job even as a research associate.
Be honest about everything, I think someone would appreciate to hear what you actually did alot more than the bullshit you make up. Unless your internship was just complete shit and you learned nothing, then embellish. Be honest and they will notice and remember you for it
