Is the MBA worth it for ER

If i was to go into sell side ER with the aspirations for switching over to the buy side eventually after a few years (then work up to PM) would getting an MBA in between switching further my chances of being able to get into buy side or would it just slow down my career progression.

Or maybe the CFA is the better route to go down?

Curious On this well, am currently in ER approaching two years, I want to work for a value fund and am seriously considering trying to get into an MBA business schools">M7 MBA to assist in the transition.
