JPM ER vs Barclays ER
Curious as to how the two shops compare for equity research. Culture, reputation, exit opps, etc. Sitting on one offer with good odds of the second. Thanks

jpm has been top ranked for research for a few years at this point, so definitely excellent. however, considering how ER operates, such a high pedigree can make it harder for younger associates to move up. i've also heard from people who've worked in ER at the firm that it can have quite a cut-throat culture. but exits would be great and you'd get to learn from some of the best of the best. i know less about barclays, but i know alot of ppl there came from lehman which was also highly regarded on street (but thats like 11 years ago at this point so who knows lol)
JPM all the way. Barclays has been cutting equity research staffing and I wouldn't be surprised if they exited more regions and paired back sector coverage. Generally speaking, JPM is also doing well while none of the European banks are. Compare the share price of the two and I think you'll quickly grasp the difference.
