Morgan Stanley Research Compensation

Can anyone shed light on starting salary, sign on bonus, associate and VP level comp for Morgan Stanley particularly? IR looks attractive for my skill set but I have other options like securities, IMD, etc.

I guess associate level is around 80K-100K.

VP level around 120-160k. Really depends on the clients votes at the end of the year. If you're the top performer and make solid calls like, Meredith Whitney, for example... bonus could be a tidy sum.

I tried probing one of the associates during the summer about her comp, and she gave me that Confidential bullcrap...

 

ugh really? 80-100 base or total? Total sounds a bit low for a third year because I know friends in GS ops that make 60k+10k sign on first year in pretax. Kudos for having the guts to probe someone about their comp like that.

 

I am not in ER, but @ my BB, ER is compensated in the same band as S+T, at least for the first 2 years.

Also, maybe I've been given really bad information, but I've been told by several older analysts at my BB that S+T (including ER) is paid in the same band as IB at basically all the BBs for the 2 year analyst programs, varying only slightly for revenue differentials. Does anyone have contradictory info?
