Never talked about on this site... Investor Relations Analyst at Boutique to ER or to PE IR, possible? - Exit Opp?

I have be an “IR analyst” for around a year at a boutique - post grad. I am basically IR for a mid size companies that outsources it’s IR to my firm in nyc. What are possible exists for this career path? I have interacted with ER analysts and been on non-deal roadshows...would equity sales be possible? Internal wholesaler? I have not seen a “traditional exit” path for an IR analyst. Thanks, much feedback is appreciated.

Probably easier to move to a corporate’s IR team that you find interesting and then try to transition to an associate role for an analyst that covers the stock. Being outsourced IR won’t give you the same depth of industry understanding as being in-house which makes it hard to position yourself as a strong candidate for the sell-side
