Series 86 prep guidance, PLEASE!!!!
Hi,
I would really appreciate if someone can share any tips they have or even your experience about your recent series 86 exam.
I have my exam next week and I am literally freaking out. I took 6 practice tests from STC material and scored 74% average (65-79%) on my first attempts. I have read that people who got late 80 to early 90 in practice tests still failed and I am terrified. I would appreciate any help!
Thanks!
Benny123, shame nobody has responded. Maybe one of these topics will help:
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
I thought the STC was fairly representative material. They don’t tell you the score anymore so I don’t know how much margin I had. Keep going over the practice questions in the book and the practice exams and read the answer rationales and you should be fine.
Thank you, that's helpful!
Outside of the video lectures for STC S86 Material, does going through the textbook really help or should I just go straight to the practice tests?
Though people complain about the stc material I thought it was fair. They key here is to actually understand how to get to the answer conceptually and then work the formulas. If you just try memorizing it will be much more difficult (I.e trying to get to P/E or other multiples with different bits of information) Also I didn’t get above 80% on the practice exams. Keep going at it
Thanks for responding, nofunleague!
I am trying to understand the concepts by going over their explanations over and over. I am taking the exam in a couple of days so not much time left. Hope it goes well.
Any update? Am starting to study for it myself and any advice would be most appreciated..
Yes, I passed. Just make sure you go through all the practice tests and the explanations that have been provided and you should be ok. Studying for 87 now. Has anyone taken series 87 here? I would really appreciate any advice on that.
Are you using STC again? I thought their practice tests were fair. I read the text but you could skip if you end up short on time (would recommend referring to the text when seeing why you got answers wrong though).
Yes, going through STC for 87 as well. I think I would need to skip the book and follow what you said, don't have much time left. Thanks for your advice!
