Signing up for the CFA® , should I use Schweser or AnalystNotes?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get into equity research and heard from an exec that one of the best ways to do this is to take and pass the CFA® tests. I'm about to sign up for the CFA® level 1 and I would like to buy some study materials. In comparing, I've come across Schweser and AnalystNotes. Schweser is much more expensive and the package is about $1050 while AnalystNotes I can get all of their study material for less than $200 which seems like this is a bargain.
Is there an advantage to going with Schweser over AN? I assume they both do the same thing, but is one easier to use/have a better method than the other? Haven't found a thread about this in 2015 so hoping to get more relevant information.

Thanks.

Cannot speak for the other product but I passed 1 and 2 the first time with Schweser. That's all I read and didn't even bother with the CFA official material.

Highly recommend the "secret sauce" book for either levels. It's a 150-200 page (small, A5) summary of all the content. I suggest flipping through that in a day to see the weak points you need to focus on.

After that I suggest starting with problems and learn the methods of doing them, then swing back to learn the theory.

End of the day if you want to pass, use the method above. If you care for mastering the material, focus on a few sections in which you are interested and then read them word by word.

Good luck

There have been many, many posts about this already. Schweser is the way to go.

Yeah I know, I've seen most of them but wasn't sure if anything changed for this year. Most likely not.

Thank you guys. I'm definitely going with schweser. I think I'm going to do the essential self study package and buy the secret sauce separate. I don't think the live online stuff would add much benefit for me as I so pretty well at teaching myself.
