Starting job at Price Reporting Agency

Hi everyone,

Final year student here at a top UK university looking to break into ER but to no avail. Have an opportunity now to start at a Price Reporting Agency (Platts/Argus/ICIS) in Asia.

What are the chances of breaking into a research-related role down the road with a CFA qualification + energy-specific industry experience in editorial/price assessments?

I would think pretty high if you networked well. You can easily spin your experience covering an industry into a sell side role, i.e. "I really liked researching the industry and found the business/investing side to be interesting." You'll need to show that your finance and accounting skills up to par, which you can do by taking the CFA exams and possibly some other coursework. Certainly a doable transition.
