How do you go about finding the stocks to pitch?
I am looking on seekingalpha for ideas, but was wondering if there is better process that I can follow?
Do you start by picking sector and then identify the best 3-4 names?

There should be some discussions about this if you spend some time searching the forums. Not sure how difficult it would be to find them.
Anyways, I consider myself a bottoms-up fundamental investor. I will start with some sort of screener based on some metrics I think are important. From there, I will take a quick look at the companies remaining to understand their business model/how they make money. If I like some, I will spend some time learning about the candidate's industry, competitors, supply chain, etc (essentially run a 5-forces analysis). Finally, if the industry shows favorable characteristics, I will complete deeper diligence to determine potential for investment.
Can you share some of the metrics you would look at when screening. I'm new to all this but I assume you would start by looking at PE, Div/Yield, etc.
ROE, PEG, PEGY, FCF yield, SGR, etc
Importance of various ratios will vary from industry to industry depending on a few different factors
