Advice on moving from Commercial Banking to Public Equities Investing?

I (23F) have been working an assistant corporate relationship manager (think CB analyst) at a bulge bracket bank in South Asia for ~a year now. This is my first FT role out of undergrad. Longer term career goal is to become a fund manager. I want to break into public equities investing. Didn't go to a target school per se. Here are some potential pathways I have:

1. Going to business school (hopefully target) in the US/EU/HK for a Masters in Finance degree - starting fall 2025. Try to break into HFs (through the P72 Academy for instance). If this fails, try sell side equity research / IB

2. Sticking out in this role for the next 4 to 5 years and then getting an MBA at an M7 business school (CBS).

I am learning tons at my current role but think I am capable of something more intellectually stimulating. Worth mentioning that public equities investing in my country isn't very vibrant (hint: it's not India). Hedge funds don't exist here. So making that transition here right off the bat is not an option. If I want to build a career in public equities investing, I will have to move out sooner than later.

Any feedback on the pathways I shared above? Would appreciate insights on how I can break into hedge funds given my background.

I don't think a good MBA would help if you don't have IB or PE (modeling) experience beforehand. I'd try your hardest to pivot into IB and then potentially get an MBA.

so you're a glorified office assistant? yea i think that profile would give you looks lmaoooooooooo
