Breaking into Credit HF
Currently one year into my analyst stint at BB coverage. Thinking about making a switch to the credit side and I want to eventually end up at a credit HF. Have looked into switching to HG DCM group at the bank, should i consider a move to S&T or even ER. I have support internally so I should have some options. Also heard about principle book investments group as well. I don't know much other than they invest in public debt securities with excess deposits. Seems like the closest thing to credit HF internally but i am not sure about exits.
Would think DCM makes most sense…similar comp, better hours as well as you know, especially since you have support….
I think it is the easiest move to make however have heard HG DCM is pretty bad in terms of exits so worried about moving and getting stuck.
Leveraged finance/restructuring are the most common banking groups for credit HF exits. It can definitely be done from other groups just need to work harder to prove you want to work in credit in interviews.
