Canadian Intern Impression
what is the perception of canadian interns at us banks/buyside programs? i go to Redacted and felt like i was decently well prepped for my Redacted this summer. overall, i was above average in terms of ability to produce but there was a kid from a canadian school that i had never heard of before who was so far ahead of even FT analysts that left me baffled. is this common or am i just missing something? what is everyone else's opinion and how do i catch up for FT?
Maybe that person was just generally more geared towards their job. Not because they were Canadian?

yes this is true (this guy was obsessed with his “coverage”) but I assume that the bar for canadians is also higher. trying to see if other people have the same experience

It’s not a “random” school. And that guy is definitely the best his institution has. Or at least a clear outlier

i worked with 2 canadian interns this summer and they were so incredibly good at their jobs it blew me away. im guessing it has something to do with how competitive it is to get into finance there
Not even, it’s survivorship bias. It’s incredibly difficult to land one of these gigs full-time as a Canadian - you have to be exceptional

If that dude is going from Credit SA to Pod FT I’m pretty sure ik who ur talking abt. That dude is an absolute outlier even among the Canadians that are good enough to move to the US.
