Citadel Mathematics Assessment HELP!!

Hi I applied to an internship at Citadel for a non-quant position and heard back a couple days earlier for a mathematics assessment. Only, I have no idea what that indicates. How do I prepare for it. Also I have 0 coding experience so is that something I should be prepped on.

Thank you so much for your help!!

Zero coding experience? Oof. The reason they have these assessments is to make sure you can come in and do they job. This internship isn’t about teaching you how to code on the job. They expect you to use your coding skills to solve real problems which is the experience you’re seeking. This is a legitimate filtering mechanism to avoid people who won’t be successful there.

Maybe it’s best you know at this point that this is beyond your skill set at this moment, because there would be nothing worse than to humiliate yourself during a subsequent interview round when they will ask you to code in front of them, or humiliate yourself during the internship, or worse off get fired from your internship because you can’t do any of the internship job tasks even though it should be well within your capabilities based upon the interview assessment

If this is truly a job you want then learn to code and apply later. This internship isn’t a make or break for your career, so focus on the long game.

Hi I understand that and will excuse myself if that is the case. For the specific internship I applied to there was no such coding requirement in the description or even mention of it. This is where my concern comes from but I still have to do an online mathematics assessment which may or may not involve coding. I didn't nor plan to overstate my skills or look for a swe/ high-level quant internship.

I would just go in and do my best…if it doesn’t work out it’s not meant to be.

Excusing yourself before the test is dumb bc you could do fine, who knows? It could just be a test with a bunch of straight forward arithmetic to test if you’re good with numbers/mental math.

I’m currently in the process with a couple funds that had me take a logic/math assessment where middle school math knowledge is the most advanced math you’d need. They’re more just testing how quick you are with numbers.

Absolutely not! The resume and answers I submitted were completely true and honest so, I got really confused when seeing other people speak about coding but maybe this is a different type of assessment.
