Lone Pine Capital SA vs BB IBD SA
I have this opportunity to interview with Lone Pine but I don't really know much about it. How well regarded is it in the Hedge Fund space? I currently have a few IBD SA offers in hand and have not really thought about doing a SA in HF before... so your inputs would be greatly appreciated. Also, this is for my junior summer if that matters.
Top-notch hedge fund. From what I hear guys at KKR and TPG would give up their jobs to work for Lone Pine. How the hell did you get a gig there?
But, they might not give offers or have a low rate (aka you need to blow them away instead of just not fuck up to get an offer) so you might have to consider that. Really no idea though. Also, they are quite small and in CT so if you want a big class to hang out with or rigorous training before starting a career a BB might be a good way to go too
super respected tiger cub. if you eventually want to end up on the buyside, you should definitely interview. if you get the job, make sure to crush your internship and then hopefully you can go back full-time (i wouldn't have thought they would hire undergrads). if you don't get full-time, you'll probably still be able to go work for a BB.
It's not even close if you are at all interested in investing. Even if you don't get FT at Lone Pine, you'll get amazing experience and a name on your resume that'll get you an interview pretty much everywhere.
Agree with everything said here. Lone Pine's name will ring out no matter where you interview. Go for that. I didn't know Lone Pine had SAs... any idea what you'll be doing there?
I have to say I love Lone Pine business cards. Classy.
At least interview with them. Very prestigious firm. Here is some more info on them and their holdings: http://www.hedgetracker.com/fund/Lone-Pine-Capital
thanks for all the advice, i'll certainly go for the interview
i guess i'm concerned since i'm not sure this is for me. I haven't really thought about joining a HF at all, and all my interview prep has been on IBD... besides it's been a while since i last interviewed, oh well
p.s. how i got it is complicated... so in short, 'through connection'
Is it an SA gig for principal investments or advisory/restructuring?
dartmouth connection? lone pine any day btw
Huge fund both in terms of AUM and headcount. Good stockpickers. Shitty investor relations department.
