Quant Trader/Researcher in HF. Struggling with my future

-- I have decided what to do. I forgot the fact that I started in this industry knowing that it will be hard. i didn't come this far to only come this far.. best of luck to you guys all. let me know if there is anything i could help with multi-manager platform's culture, pay, fit, etc...

depends on the strategy, tbh. We had initial capital of ~400mio with 3x leverage available. Most PMs start flat- somewhere around $150k. Team building--depends on the PM. You are on your own to build your team if you are starting fresh. Your best shot would be bringing the guys that you used to work with, however, most of the time this doesn't work due to the non-compete (both for you and the guy that you are trying to onboard from previous work).If this doesn't work, you go through either you friends who know people / head-hunters, etc, but i think most common ways are 1) jumping ship with whole desks or 2) through headhunter.

 

Thanks! How about % of PnL? Also, if dealing with quant strategies, would you know how much of a runway is given in terms of building up the trading systems (i.e., writing code) before you are expected to make money
