interviewed there and spoke about that with them - they don't specifically target it or see it as a requirement, but it just so happens that a lot of their hires have that background. A bunch without is as well though

My sense of the firm is they are really quite excellent. Look for anything that makes money in any style, and fit it to the risk limits as best they can. Also why they have the "children's fund" for longer term picks.

Really humble people and quite gracious and nice, even if it looks/feels like a pedigreed tower on the hill

Regarding the sophomore SA program, seems like they just take ivies or competitive students with a clear interest/strength in investing (investment competitions, investment clubs, etc.). The program seems extremely competitive (taking 1-4 per year), and it seems to have phenomenal training/exit ops.

Solid performance since inception. Strong returns every year (they were up in ‘18 which gives you perspective on how air tight the process is). Dig around google and you’ll find more color.

I’ve heard good things about Holocene, especially in terms of the culture being collaborative and low-key. The work-life balance seems solid compared to some other firms in the industry, and they seem to value intellectual curiosity. As for comp, it’s competitive, but you won’t be pulling the crazy hours you might at some of the bigger players.
