Millennium's Junior Research Analyst Program is structured to provide a strong foundation for aspiring analysts. Here's what you need to know:

  1. Program Structure:

    • The first year involves working in UBS's Equity Research (ER) division, rotating through industries, and learning from senior ER analysts.
    • You'll also gain exposure to trading desks during this period.
    • After the first year, participants are placed under a Portfolio Manager (PM) at Millennium to begin their careers.
  2. Eligibility:

    • While the context doesn't explicitly state whether the program is for sophomores or juniors, it is likely targeted at juniors, as it aligns with typical summer analyst programs.
  3. Interview Process:

    • The process is not detailed in the context, but given the nature of the program, you can expect a mix of technical and behavioral questions.
    • Technical questions may focus on equity research, financial modeling, and market analysis, while behavioral questions will likely assess your teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability.

This program is a great opportunity to build a career in hedge funds, offering exposure to both research and trading. If you're comparing it to programs at P72 or Citadel, Millennium's structured approach and direct PM placement stand out as unique features.

I’m a junior but shifted down so I could apply for this. Had online behavioral assessment

Probably worst of all big 4 MM because they have no experience running their own grad scheme - not sure whats happening to the FT UBS program but heard not great things

Attended their info session. People can choose to select two of equity, macro, commodities, and credit in the application. The FT Equity Analyst program is still there as well.

Did a first round interview with a quant/trader. Fairly standard behavioral, walk me through your resume and follow up questions about my experience. I interned at a prop shop so his questions were related to that experience. Then he moved to market based questions, what is going in the world right now that you are following. He kept asking follow up questions on my opinions of those events. Something I wish that I could've done better was be more prepared for the follow up questions. It was 50% background and technical skills you have and 50% market based questions.

Can only speak for what I hear from the UK side:

Millennium do their best to provide the relevant training and reps (they do collaborate with UBS ER via a secondment arrangement for equities and non-quant stuff) but you're immediately thrown onto the desk after that finishes and the environment can be tricky to navigate especially as you haven't been given much rope to navigate the vertical you are assigned.

I've heard in EMEA the culture is good but mixed bag from what I know.
