What are the top 30-50 names to ramp in each sector?

Just left my banking job and going to be traveling the next month before starting at a pod in the new year as an associate. I was in a product group so am not completely sure what sector I'm the most interested in yet - so I thought it'd be good to take a look at some of the bigger names / start getting familiar with different biz models before starting. Would anyone be able to share a list of important names (i.e., 20-30 tickers that are commonly covered) to start with in each sector? Otherwise, any direction into how to screen would be much appreciated. I'm interested in industrials, consumer, internet, and software. Thanks in advance!

Thx for response, what would be a better approach? Just trying to get a better picture of sectors I'm interested with any pointers. At my bank, I would dig around sellside in my free time and read initiating and recent updates for "top picks" / main coverage for all the top analysts. Thought this was a good way to get a good picture of the biggest names in the sector, but don't know much about the research process for pods / how juniors end up owning new tickers.

Sorry for not clarifying - coming from a MM bank and was offered to join the experienced training program at one of the larger platforms. It's an 18-24 month program before joining one of the sector training teams as an associate, so I'm wondering how to best get up to speed / learn about different sectors.

It’s possible OP is going through one of the associate/analyst training programs at a bigger platform and doesn’t have a sector assigned yet cause that’ll be determined during the training program. Otherwise, I agree it doesn’t make sense how you’d join a pod without a pre-determined industry coverage set based on the team you interviewed with.

I have some older friends at pods and what they’ve told me is that first it’s best to eliminate the sectors that you are not interested in and where money/alpha can’t be made (think paper and packaging)
